Guest Post - My Christmas Make Up

Hello lovely people! I'm so happy that Laura asked if I would like to guest post for her as i've been reading her blog from the very beginning. For those of you who don't know me, I'm Megan, a beauty blogger, I blog about mainly beauty with a few lifestyle posts thrown in for good measure! I'd love it if after you've read this post, you pop over and check out my blog. But anyway, lets get on with post...

As i've said I mainly blog about beauty so I decided that as it's getting into Christmas party season I'd show you my typical Christmas party makeup. I tried this look for my friends engagement party and loved it, so I hope you guys do too. I'll talk you through the products I used and then show you the finished look at the end.

MUA Fashionista Primer, Mac Studio Fix, Seventeen Phwoar Paint Concealer, Elf High Definition Powder, Bourjois Chocolate Bronzer, MUA Blusher Palette, Elf All Over Colour Stick & Natural Collection Lipstick - Rose Bud

I primed my face first with the MUA Fashionista Primer (i've reviewed it here if you want to see). For foundation I decided to use my MAC Studio Fix as it's really high coverage and will last all night. I buffed this in with the Real Techniques buffing brush to give a flawless finish. To concealer any dark circles and blemishes I used the Seventeen Phwoar Paint Concealer, the coverage of this is brilliant so I knew it was going to last all night. I've also reviewed this too.

I contoured my cheeks a little using the Bourjois Chocolate bronzer in the shade 52 to give my face a bit of definition. I didn't go crazy with the contour so it still looked natural. To make all this makeup stay in place I used the Elf HD setting powder for the first time. The foundation is already quite matte but this powder is amazing, it really smoothed my skin and minimised my pores. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

To finish off, I used the MUA blush in the shade flush (bottom left) on the apples of my cheeks and blended outwards. I added a swipe of the ELF all over colour stick to the tops of my cheek bones and the brow bone for a subtle highlight. I really think this is a wonderful highlight and for £1.50 you can't go wrong. To complete the look I used Natural Collection lipstick in Rose Bud which compliments the eyeshadow perfectly.

ELF pressed pigment, ELF concealer palette, HD Brows Palette, ELF mascara primer, ELF eyelid primer, Benefit They're Real, Rimmel scandeleyes eyeliner, Eyeko eye lash curlers, 17 eyes, Mac paint pot

Now for my favourite bit of the makeup look - eyes! I started by filling in my brows using the HD brow kit as I normally do, I then took the third shade in of the ELF concealer palette  and outlined my brows to make them more defined (you can see my post on my eyebrow routine here). I then primed my eyelids with the ELF eyelid primer, I really like this and think it does a great job at keeping your eyeshadow in place.

To start the eye makeup I used the MAC paint pot in Bare Study to create a base for the eyeshadow to stick too. This is a gorgeous champagne colour with a hint of shimmer. I then added a dab of the ELF pressed pigment in natural nude to the whole lid. I then added the gold, champagne, pink colour from the 17 eye trio to create the perfect Christmas look. I then took the purple shade in the outer third and the crease to create some definition. I also ran this underneath my eye too.

Moving on to lashes, I primed my eyes with the ELF mascara primer and then lined my eyes with the Rimmel scandeleyes eyeliner as close to the lash line as possible. Afterwards, I curled my lashes and then applied a couple of coats of Benefit They're Real mascara. A quick spritz of ELF's mist and set and you're ready for the night ahead.

The Finished Look

I hope you've enjoyed this post and like the makeup look. Let me know if you recreate it, I'd love to see it. I hope to see some of you on my blog soon, I love new readers and followers, so don't hesitate and I hope you all have a lovely Christmas season.
