Shorts Obsessed

13:00 Laura Thornberry 2 Comments

So as you may have guessed from the title, I am currently obsessed with buying shorts. Hands down, I'm a shorts kinda girl. Shorts over skirts any day. I don't know what it is, but there's just so many pairs out there that I am dying to get my hands on.

The two pairs of shorts featured in today's post are both recent purchases from Forever21 and I am definitely in love! Usually I'm not a printed bottom half lover, I usually go for something quite plain and boring, but I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone and go for something a little more colourful and vibrant, and just something to add a little special something to my outfits.

First up are the gorgeous Scarf Print Tap Shorts. Aren't these just stunning! I absolutely adore the colours and print of these! The material used is so soft and silky, they just feel amazing on and really flatter your body shape. The pocket detail on the shorts really give them a smart and sophisticated detail, but with that more casual, relaxed vibe that I base my style choice on. What I love about these shorts is that they are so versatile in how you can style them, both casually for daytime, or dress them up for an evening look, you can do both! At only £13.50, these were definitely a bargain purchase!

Secondly are these gorgeous Pleated Tribal Shorts. Unfortunately I am unable to find them online, but they may still be in stores. These have to be the most flattering and comfortable shorts I have ever purchased. The print and colours is definitely a little out there and bold, but paired with a simple colour, I think they look great! Below I have a couple of pictures, where I pieced them together with a simple black top and black heels for my friend's leaving party.

Are you shorts obsessed too? Where are your go-to stores to buy shorts? Have you bought any recently?

What products are you lusting over this September? Do you have any of the products I have featured on your current wishlist? Have you reviewed any of the products I have featured?

The King of Breakfasts

I don't know about you, but for me, pancakes aren't only just for Shrove Tuesday (pancake day), they can be made for any time of the year! Today I'm going to be sharing a little cheeky pancake recipe that combines some great flavours, that would be perfect for those cheat breakfasts!

Pancakes can sometimes be seen as quite an unhealthy food, but throw on top some fruit and yoghurt, and its a win win situation..... right?!?! From sweet to savoury fillings, a pancake is such a versatile snack that can really have literally any toppings and still be delicious!

For the pancake mixture
110g  plain flour
pinch of salt
2 eggs
200ml milk
50g butter

To serve
handful of blueberries
melted dark chocolate
sprinkle of dessicated coconut
2 spoonfuls of plain yoghurt
drizzle of honey/syrup

Method
1. Sift the flour and salt into a large mixing bowl.
2. Make a well in the centre of the flour and break the eggs into it, and begin to whisk.
3. Next gradually add small quantities of the milk and continue to whisk, until all the flour is incorporated.
4. Now melt the butter in a pan and spoon 2 tbsp of it into the batter and whisk it in, and place the remaining melted butter in a small bowl.
5. Now place the frying pan on a medium heat and add enough batter to evenly cover the base of the pan. (around 2tbsp)
6. Let the pancake cook, and once you are able to move the pancake in the pan, its ready to be flipped! (the most fun part)
7. Then once flipped, and the other side is fully cooked, then simply slide it out of the pan onto a plate, and add on all your delicious toppings. I opted for blueberries, yoghurt, honey, coconut and melted chocolate. YUM!

What are you favourite pancake toppings? Has this post given you the urge to cook up some delicious pancakes?

Casual Summer Vibes

When the hot warmer weather decides to make an appearance now and then in the UK, its all about wearing something comfortable and airy, as well as still being able to soak up the sun, and this outfit is something so simple yet stylish, its perfect for everyone!

To me, a simple boyfriend tee, shorts, trainers and shades are the perfect summer combo. Each item is so versatile and can be styled up in so many ways, but I think summer is all about simplicity and this outfit choice reflects this. This outfit would be perfect for many occasions, a shopping trip, a day at the beach or even a picnic, the occasions are endless, and if it gets a little chilly in the evenings, why not throw on a cute little cardigan or kimono to add a little girly vibe to the outfit!

What is your perfect casual summer outfit?

Ideal Festival Challenge with Boohoo

13:00 Laura Thornberry 2 Comments

When a lovely little email landed in my inbox from the lovely Jessica asking if I would like to take part in a blogger challenge teamed with BooHoo where I could share with you all my ideal festival, I knew this was definitely right up my street! Festivals are always so much fun and a great way to spend a dew days with some of your closest friends, so if I could create my ideal festival, it would go a little like this...
I would share a tent with...  obviously for my ideal festival, I would have a super huge tent to share with all my best friends! You will clearly want to have the best time possible and what better way to spend it with your nearest and dearest! Going to a festival should be all about having fun and making memories that will last a lifetime, so grab all your friends and have a blast!
My headliners would be…  I have such a varied music taste, that I would want so many amazing bands and artists performing at my ideal festival! But if I have to narrow it down to a few headliners, I'd definitely choose Bastille, Disclosure, Calvin Harris, Rudimental, Ellie Goulding and Justin Timberlake! These 5 headliners would be sure to create such an amazing festival and I think would just have such a great vibe to any summer festival!
Flavoured Slush Puppies, Photobooths, Popcorn and Neon Sunglasses ….. would be free for all attending. No summer festival would be great without some delicious Slush Puppies to cool off and rehydrate! Definitely some lovely cola, raspberry and lemon flavours! Delicious! A Photobooth is a big yes! You will obviously want to capture those great memories, so grab your friends and head to the photobooth, whether its just for a standard photo or something that little bit silly with a box full of props! Popcorn, we all need something to munch on, whether is sweet or salty, butter or toffee, there will be something for everyone! And finally sunglasses, but not just any plain ones, NEON ONES! What summer festival would be complete without some bold, bright sunglasses!
The item that I could not go without would be… some free WiFi! What madness and chaos this festival would be without it! How would you upload those cheeky Instagram snaps, or update your Facebook, Post a little Tweet or even update your blog! Free WiFi is a MUST!
Wellies or Wedges? Definitely wedges! A summer festival with great weather, you will need to look your best, so there is definitely no need for the wellies! But if its a beach festival, I would probably suggest some sandals or flats!
Beach or Field? Definitely the beach! No need to worry about any grass stains or wet patches of grass! The beach would be the ideal spot for a summer festival, and if the weather gets a little hot, you can always go for a little paddle in the sea to cool off!
The theme would be… Ibiza! Sometimes a holiday abroad can be a little too expensive, so I'm bringing the Ibiza Party to my festival! Lazer lights, bubble machines, foam/water canons, you name it, I've got it! And when the sun goes down, the glow sticks come out!
Celeb spot of the weekend would be…  Rita Ora and Cara Delevnigne, these two would definitely be strutting there stuff around at my festival.
As you can see my festival OOTD would be quite casual and simple, but incorporating those Ibiza vibes to make this a stand out outfit! A simple cami and denim shorts is the perfect combo to soak up the sun and keep cool! But if you're feeling a little burnt or chilly, this gorgeous bright kimono is a perfect cover up! Completing the look with these gorgeous gladiator sandals and a leaf detailed headband for that added festival chic!

What would be your ideal festival? Who would be your headliners? What outfit would you wear? What do you think of the outfit I have created?

Colourful Cases with Mr Nutcase*

13:00 Laura Thornberry 1 Comments

Recently, I was kindly given the opportunity to design and review my own phone case from the lovely people over at Mr Nutcase, where I opted for the Ultra Light Weight Slimline case for my iPhone 5.

"Mr Nutcase has been established for many years as a supplier of personalised mobile phone and tablet cases placing quality over quantity, whilst offering our customers a large range of manufacturers and models. This is what makes us 'the experts in personalised mobile phone and tablet cases'. We can print any image or design of your choice to fit your iPhone, Blackberry, Samsung, HTC, iPad/Mini, Kindle and many many more."

The design I went for was something I had designed myself, something very colourful and bold, perfect for the Summer months, cause you know, the phone needs to look good as well! I wanted something quite geometric and I think the pattern captured exactly what I wanted, and the way it was printed was absolutely outstanding! Since my phone case arrived, it has been glued to my iPhone, so hats off to you Mr Nutcase!

If you haven't heard of Mr Nutcase before, or you are looking for somewhere that you can get a super phone case, I would definitely recommend Mr Nutcase. The printing of the images is amazing and super high quality, they offer such a range of cases to suit your mobile, great customer service and super speedy delivery! What more could you want?!

Have you heard of/used Mr Nutcase before? Are you looking to get a new phone case?

Budget Days Out in London

13:00 Laura Thornberry 3 Comments

Despite having quite the expensive reputation as a city, a day out in London doesn't have to cost a lot of money. There are a huge variety of free London attractions to visit, cheap restaurants to eat at, vast amounts of parks and discounted tickets for lots of top attractions! So whether you’re on a tight budget, or just want something to do for the afternoon, keep reading to find out some ideas for a cheap day out in London!

Make the most of London's open spaces and royal parks with a picnic! With spring on its way, the weather getting a little warmer and more suitable for outdoor activities, a picnic in the park is a great way to spend the afternoon and perfect occasion to spend some time with your loved ones, relax and have a good gossip with your girl friends.

London features 8 royal parks; St James’ Park, Regents Park, Hyde Park, Richmond Park, Bushy Park, The Green Park, Greenwich Park and Kensington Gardens, which are such beautiful, picturesque locations for a relaxing and refreshing picnic! A personal favourite would be Hyde Park, where you can enjoy your homemade lunch and go for a little stroll along The Serpentine!

Preparing some homemade snacks is a perfect way to keep this outing to a small budget and not spend a great amount of money on food and drinks. From homemade sandwiches and cute cupcakes to chocolate cookies and healthy salads, as well as sausage rolls, pasta dishes and a tasty fruit salad, the possibilities are endless!

Some of London’s biggest attractions can come with quite the hefty price tag, but throughout the year, there are many chances to snap up a 2 for 1 ticket to save you some money! 2 for 1 tickets and offers allow you to have an enjoyable, fun day out, without it costing an arm and a leg, so you don’t need to worry about having an empty bank account! Whether Thorpe Park, London Zoo, Madame Tussuad's, London Eye or The Aquarium is your thing, you will be able to find plenty of these 2 for 1 offers in newspapers, your local supermarket or more easily on the Day’s Out Guide, with 150 locations and attractions; you shall be spoilt for choice!

A shopping spree in London doesn’t have to be expensive, especially if you know the best places to go! London is a host to such a variety of interesting and beautiful markets, with Camden, Portobello Road and Spitalfields firm favourites, as well as Brick Lane and Borough Market, sticking to a budget can be easily achieved with some bargain shopping. Whether you’re looking for some adorable ornaments or stunning homemade jewellery or just for a casual browse, there is definitely a market perfect for your tastes!

Finally, if something more intellectual and inspiring is more your thing, London is home to over 300 museums and galleries, where most of these have free entry! With a massive variety, including The Victoria & Albert Museum, The Saatchi Gallery, The Science Museum, Imperial War Museum, and plenty of others to choose from, visiting museums and galleries is a great opportunity to gain some extra knowledge in a specific field, as well as having an exciting and fun packed afternoon, without spending a penny! (Except on specific exhibitions or a cheeky purchase in the gift shop) Whether history, science, culture, art or design is your thing, London delves into the history of everything from astronauts to Da Vinci to boats to war and lots more!

So whether you’re looking to save yourself some money on a day out in London, or just want some inspiration of places to visit, hopefully this little budget guide has inspired you to do something different on a spare afternoon, or to go somewhere that interests you or your hobbies.

Where are your favourite budget places to visit? Will you be visiting any of the places featured in today's post this summer?

Going Cat Crazy

If you're a cat lover, this one is definitely for you! But if you're not, there is still some things you may not have known!

I love both cats and dogs, but seeing as I've always had cats in my house ever since I was small, I seem to prefer them! Cats are very interesting creatures, they are one of, if not the most, popular pet in the world, with over 500 million cats in the world. The domestic cat sleeps for an average of 13 to 14 hours a day and lives between the ages of 12-15, they are pretty cool animals.  But they don't just have the attention of there owners, cats have come together in there hundreds, to be posted all over the internet for your viewing pleasure.

Let's take a look at some cat friendly internet facts!

If you hadn't already been aware, Felix have been working on their Britain's Cleverest Cat competition, which you may have seen advertised on TV during Britain'g Got Talent. The competition involved the public sending videos in of their cats doing cool tricks, in the hope of winning £5000 and getting their video shown during the final of BGT on the 7th June. After many entries, they whittled it down to the top 3 entries, which you can view in the video below, as well as checking out to see who the winner of the contest was.

As a little extra for all you cat fanatics, here's a few photos of my own pet cat! Enjoy!

Are you a cat or a dog lover? Do you have any favourite cat videos on the internet?

Lingerie Lovin'

13:00 Laura Thornberry 1 Comments

There's just something about black lingerie that just screams sexy and confidence, don't you think? It's just one of those things that every woman should have, whatever shape or size you are, its a definite staple set in your lingerie collection, and there is nothing better than having a gorgeous matching set of lingerie and this set from House of Fraser is no exception!

When I received this set in the post, I was very impressed! This set is both comfortable and beautiful, it had a great fit and generally looked/felt great on. The 2 pieces are incredibly well made and were undetectable under clothing where none of the seems could be seen through clothing. Big thumbs up!

all images taken from Pinterest

We all know how good fitting underwear can make you feel more confident and feminine in our own bodies and whatever outfit we choose to wear. It just helps to flatter and show off our assets, and overall just make us feel happier in our appearance. So when you feel good on the inside, it reflects on the outside, so in this case its what you wear underneath that helps bring out that confidence and happiness!

Have you ever bought lingerie from House of Fraser? Does good fitting lingerie make you feel more confident and feminine?

Sleep in Style this Summer ft Bedroom Athletics*

13:00 Laura Thornberry 0 Comments

So recently I was contacted by Bedroom Athletics,an online store that offers a large selection of men's and women's pyjamas, slippers and other bedroom accessories, who offered me the opportunity to try out some of there products, which was very exciting.

With the lead up to summer, and the weather hopefully getting that slightly bit warmer, its time to ditch those onesies and fluffy pyjamas and opt for something much more cooler and lighter. And this is where Bedroom Athletics excels, as they kindly sent me the Christina Ballerina Slippers - White Pink*, the Wilma Pyjama Shorts – Cream Check*and the Carnation Tshirt – White* , which I think are the perfect summer pyjama staples for anyone's wardrobe, as they are super light, comfortable and cute as well!

I would definitely recommend checking out the Bedroom Athletics website as they have such a vast range of products and designs, there is definitely going to be something for everyone! You can also find them on Facebook and Twitter, where you will also be able to find more information and even a few cheeky competitions which I would definitely advise you checking out!

Have you heard of Bedroom Athletics before? What do you think of the pyjamas that I was kindly sent? What pyjamas do you opt for in the summer time?

Save The Blow Dry Shower Cap*

13:00 Laura Thornberry 1 Comments

So, if you're a long haired girl like me, you may want to keep on reading!

I was recently contacted by the lovely people at Save The Blow Dry, asking me if I would like to be sent there Turquoise Shower cap*, to which I said yes straight away as this is something which I would definitely find very useful! I've never been a shower cap kinda girl, I usually tie my hair up in a messy bun and get on with things, but since receiving this a month or so ago, I have been using the Save The Blow Dry shower cap when I shower/bathe, I don’t wash my hair everyday but obviously I do shower/bathe daily, so this has definitely been a miracle product that I am extremely impressed!

Blow drying my hair is one of my least favourite things to do ever. It makes my arms ache and just takes far too long. They claim a 100% best blowdry protection guaranteed. It's unlike ANY shower cap I have ever used before, for good reasons!

Can we just take a moment to admire how cute the design of the shower cap is. It's just so pretty! I think having the printed hair accessory designs on the cap is a really lovely touch, but its not too over the top, which makes this a unisex piece. The size of the shower cap is rather massive, so you girls with thick, voluminous hair, this caters for you too! Another really cool aspect of this show cap, is that if you turn it inside out, so the plastic side is inside, you can slap on a hair mask for a few hours or overnight, without making a mess of your clothes or bed! Genius!

RRP - £14.95

Have you heard of the Save The Blow Dry Shower Cap before? Would this be something that you would be interested in purchasing?

Desktop Blogging Essentials

13:00 Laura Thornberry 4 Comments

When it comes to blogging, everyone has there own setup and things that they need to help them plan and write up there ideas, so here's a little insight into mine. I was recently  contacted by Viking Direct, who offered me the chance to select some items from there online store and share with you all, and for this I decided to pick a few things that I would consider "Blogging Essentials". Viking is a leading supplier of office supplies, including everything from stationery and ink cartridges to office furniture.

So when it comes to blogging, the two main things that I need are my Laptop and my iPhone. Without these, my blog wouldn't even exist! I use my Laptop to write my blog posts, adjust my blog design, and just for any admin or research that I need to do for my blog! However, I'm pretty sure most of my time is spent on my iPhone. With the internet available in just a few clicks, social media at your fingertips and interaction with other bloggers so easy, this is something I use everyday and is a definite essential for me! I also sometimes use the Blogger App, which allows me to write down any ideas for posts, upload photos from my phone and even publish posts! How useful!

So when it came to deciding what I wanted to include, I had a very hard decision; Viking offers so much that I was spoilt for choice. Firstly I decided on this super cute A5 Floral Notepad*. I just love the lovely, colourful floral design on this! Its a perfect little notepad to scribble down any blog post ideas or shopping lists, and the perfect size to carry in your handbags for when you're on the go! And obviously if you have a notepad, you're obviously going to need something to write with, so I opted for the Stabilo 10 Pack Assorted Fineliners*, lots of pretty colours to get all your new, creative ideas down on paper! I also found them super comfortable and easy to grip onto, and no smudging!

Next up I have the Wooden Pen Holder*, which I obviously use to store the fineliners, just to keep myself that little bit more organised! I also use this to store pencils, a pair of scissors, my small desktop tripod and my camera USB lead, so this came in very useful! Another handy little item to have are the colourful Sticky Notes*, to make sure you don't forget any ideas or deadlines, or even to write down some of those products that you see on other peoples blogs/videos, that you want to research a little bit more or purchase!

Last but not least, I opted for a little treat for myself. A treat in the form of Cadburys Hot Chocolate*. How sneaky of me! But come on, having a lovely hot chocolate whilst blogging is just perfect! The best way to relax and let your creative juices flow!

Have you heard of Viking Direct before? What are your Blogging Essentials?
