With the cold winter nights settling in, there's nothing better than getting into some cosy pyjamas and cooking something quick for dinner. For me, Pasta is the ultimate comfort food. It’s hearty, easy to make, and you can mix it with absolutely anything and be onto a winner of a dish. I've decided to put together a delicious recipe combining chicken, green pesto, broccoli and pasta, for the ultimate dish!

For this recipe, you will need the following ingredients; (serves 2)

1 tbsp Olive Oil
2 Garlic Cloves, minced
2 Chicken Breasts, chopped
Parmesan Cheese
3 tbsp Green Pesto
Salt and Pepper
150g Fusilli Pasta
Frozen Broccoli Florets

Chicken and Broccoli Pesto Pasta

1. Start by adding boiling water, Fusilli pasta and salt to a large pot, and cook according to package directions. I used quick cook pasta, so this took just 5 minutes.

2. Add the broccoli to the pot once the pasta is nearly finished cooking, to simply warm through the broccoli. Once cooked, drain and set aside.

3. Pour 1 tbsp oil into a large pan. Add the garlic, salt and pepper, and cook for just a few seconds then add the sliced chicken.

4. Cook the chicken for 5-7 minute or until browned.

5. Next add the Parmesan, pesto, and a splash of water to help create a thick sauce.

6. Simmer mixture for 2-3 minutes.

7. Add the cooked pasta and broccoli. Stir until fully combined.

8. Remove from heat, serve up and garnish with more Parmesan if desired..

This easy dish comes together in under 30 minutes and makes a great weeknight dinner!

One of my goals for 2020 is to grow, take better care of my hair, and make sure to keep it in the healthiest condition it has ever been. I've also vowed to try and use less heat tools on my hair, mainly hair straighteners, to prevent dryness, breakage and split ends. Over the years I've stuck to the same haircare brands and the same products - which I have really enjoyed using - but I have decided that it's time to change things up, try something new and see what products work best for my hair type. In terms of my hair type, I have medium length, natural, dark blonde hair which is mostly straight but with a slight wave to it in parts. I've also never dyed my hair which has kept my hair in a good condition.

Below are a number of hair masks, oils and serums that I have chosen will aim to help add moisture and hydration, prevent frizz and breakage, as well as adding shine and sleekness to my hair, that I think will help to achieve my hair goals for 2020.

hydrating hair masks

Wishlist - Garnier Ultimate Blends Hair Food Coconut 3 in 1 Mask  / Bondi Boost Miracle Mask 250ml / Shea Moisture Super fruit Masque 326ml

Hair Masks are a great way to really give your hair a deep and thorough condition. They have similar benefits as a conditioner—like deeply nourishing and strengthening hair—but are more intense and powerful. Hair masks can also target any specific hair concerns you may have, which for me would be frizz, dry ends and dullness. I always look for super hydrating hair masks, usually enriched with nourishing oils, that will really add some moisture back into my hair. I really want to try and aim to be using hair masks 1-2 times a week to really help keep my hair moisturised and nourished, as the colder weather can really damage it and make it dry.

hydrating hair oils

Wishlist - VO5 Nourishing Coconut Hot Oil 4x15ml  / OUAI Hair Oil 50ml  / HASK Argan Shine Oil Pump 100ml

Hair Oils are a great way to control frizz, tame flyaway and add shine to your hair. They are super lightweight and don't weigh your hair down or make it greasy. I tend to use oils on the mid-lengths and ends of my hair, on freshly washed hair or on dry hair to lock in some moisture and help with shine. I like using oils that contain avocado, Argan, coconut or macadamia nut, as for me, these provide the most moisture for my hair and help to boost the appearance/texture of my hair.

hydrating hair serums
Wishlist - John Frieda Frizz-Ease Extra Strength 6 Effects + Serum 50ml  / L'Oréal Dream Lengths Frizz Killer Serum  / Lee Stafford Cactus Crush Dazzle Drops 50ml  / VO5 Heat Protect Serum

Hair Serums are another treatment that I like to use on a day to day basis. One of the main use of hair serum is that it makes the hair shinier, healthier and causes less tangles. They are perfect for using on washed hair or when styling hair. I always pick up serums that will really benefit my hair needs - mainly to help prevent frizz, split ends, to add shine or to protect from heat.

AD - GIFTED | With the start of 2020 in full swing, I wanted to write about some of my favourite skincare products I have been using religiously over the last few months. With the incredibly cold weather that we have been having, my skin has needed extra hydration and moisturising, and the products I have been using have really kept my skin nourished and looking healthy.

Lavera Soft Moisturising Cream

Keep your skin beautifully soft, smooth, plump, and hydrated with Lavera Soft Moisturising Cream*
.  A soft and luxurious cream from the basis sensitive range, perfect for the face, body and hands - this cream has been my go to moisturiser for the colder weather, where my skin has needed extra hydration. Enriched with Jojoba and Aloe Vera with added Vitamin E to protect, care and provide long lasting moisture for your skin.

Simple x Little Mix Hydrating Booster

A new addition to my Winter skincare routine has been the Simple x Little Mix Hydrating Booster. This has been such a great product to use before my moisturiser, as I am able to target the drier areas of my skin, helping me get that skin glow and leaving it looking and feeling healthy. The Simple Hydrating Booster facial moisturiser has been designed to reverse 5 signs of dehydration: dryness, roughness, feelings of tightness, dullness and dehydration lines.

Superdrug Vitamin C Energising Facial Spritz

The Superdrug Vitamin C Energising Facial Spritz has been my life-saving product during the colder months - keeping my skin glowing, radiant and refreshed. I've previously used the Superdrug Vitamin C range and absolutely loved it, and this facial spritz is no exception. I've used this both morning and night-time as the perfect energising and revitalising wake up call for my skin!

Beauti Skincare Beauty Sleep Elixir

I previously reviewed the Beauti Skincare Beauty Sleep Elixir* back in December 2018, and it's been something I've used ever since! This facial oil is the perfect skincare product you need to give a radiance boost to your complexion and give your skin that healthy glow all year round. This luxurious face oil is 100% natural and enriched with fourteen precious plant oils. I use this oil twice a week as part of my night-time skincare routine, and in the morning, my skin is plump, hydrated and nourished.

Nivea Soft Lips Lip Balms

It may not be skincare as such, but lip balm is a Winter essential for sure! I've tried plenty of lip balms and never found one that really works until I picked up the Nivea Soft Lips Lip Balms. They are so moisturising and hydrating, you can say goodbye to dry, chapped lips forever!

E45 Moisturising Lotion

Finally, everybody's favourite - E45 Moisturising Lotion. I suffer with extremely dry skin on both my legs and arms, so I would be completely lost without this stuff! This is a super light, and easily absorbed lotion that you can use all over the body, and keeps your skin hydrated all day long.

What are your Winter skin favourites?

AD - GIFTED | Whilst browsing the Femme Luxe website, I managed to pick three pieces that I wanted to style and share with you how I would wear each piece. I've picked some super casual pieces that I feel would be perfect for styling day to day. Each piece featured can be both dressed up or dressed down, depending on the occasion or time of day. For this blog post, I've chosen to style each piece in a more daytime appropriate, casual way.

Black Cuffed Cargo Trousers*Black Cuffed Cargo Trousers*

Cargo Trousers have been super popular over the last few months, and someone I definitely thought I wouldn't like to wear or find easy to style. But I was definitely wrong. This style of trouser makes a great alternative to jeans or leggings, and can be easily teamed with bodysuits, crop tops, oversized jumpers or simple tees.

Black High Waisted PU Leggings*Black High Waisted PU Leggings*

A perfect Winter wardrobe staple are PU Trousers and Leggings. A great way to make your outfit look more put together and dressy, as well as being pretty comfortable. PU trousers and leggings are very versatile when it comes to making an outfit - style them with hoodies and trainers, a nice top and heels, or even jumpers and boots.

Black Oversized Sweater Mini Dress*

Finally Sweat Dresses. The perfect go-to, quick and easy outfit when you are stuck for something to wear. Pair with heels, trainers or boots and your outfit is pretty much ready. I paired the sweat dress with a simple black belt just to help add some shape to the outfit, and accessorised with a layered necklace to tie the look together.

Have you tried Femme Luxe? Which outfit is your favourite?

AD| New Year’s Eve, the biggest party night of the year. Celebrating the end of one year and the beginning of the next should be fun and enjoyable for everyone. Right? But as a singleton, you're probably thinking this is the night we all love to hate. Will I have plans? Will I be counting down til midnight alone? Will I get my midnight kiss? If you're still not sure, I'm going to share with you great ways you can have fun as a singleton and 10 activities to do on NYE that will increase your odds of meeting someone that night.

new years celebration

1. Go to your local nightclub
Most nightclubs will have a special event or themed party for New Years Eve. They are always very popular, so make sure to grab your ticket early. Whether you're into pop, rock or house music, there will definitely be a nightclub that suits your music tastes, and you might just find your significant other at an event like this, as you'll definitely have something in common.

2. Head to a firework display
Welcome the new year in style by attending a fireworks display - the one in London is always a great celebration and absolutely phenomenal. With a spectacular fireworks display on the River Thames as Big Ben strikes midnight and crowds gather to welcome in the new year, you'll definitely be surrounded by fellow singletons for you to keep your eye on, and grab for that midnight kiss!

3. Host a singles party
Hosting a party is a solid way to keep busy as well as not dwell on the fact that you are single. But why not grab all your single friends and their friends together and have a great night in. Whether you order in some pizzas, put together a buffet or even host a cocktail event, having a house full of other singles will allow you to mingle with all the guests and you might even get introduced to someone new and find someone you're interested in that night.

online dating

4. Download an adult dating site / dating app
Whether you're looking to make friends, find a partner, have a no strings attached dating style or just casual sex dating, joining a dating site like No Strings Dating can be an easy way for you to have fun, whist being single at New Year. With single people right at your fingertips, it's the perfect way to meet new people and have fun.

5.  Plan a work night out
If you've got your eye on someone at work and want a chance to spend some time with them, but you're not confident enough to ask them out alone, why not plan a party with your whole work team. Whether you go bowling, a restaurant, to a pub or bar, having people you are comfortable with around you might help you pluck up that courage to talk to the person you've been crushing over.

6. Have a singles night out
Grab all your single friends and go all out! Hit the pubs, bars and clubs and make sure you have a brilliant night out. Whether you meet someone new or not, you're bound to have a great night out regardless!

7. Make new friends at a local event
If partying and drinking isn't your thing, why not have a search of local events in your area that you could attend instead. Whether it's going to a concert, a musical, or even a restaurant event, you're bound to meet others and have a really enjoyable night out.

8. Ask out your crush on a date
This might seem like a crazy idea, but surely if you know what you want, you'll want to get it. Think positively. You know the saying, "New year, new me" - use this attitude to your advantage to help gain confidence, courage and feel like you can do anything, especially asking out your crush on a date. You never know, it might go really well and you can thank yourself later!

9. Go speed dating with your single friends
Speed dating is a great way for you to really have some fun and meet potential partners in a more relaxed environment. You could grab a load of your single friends and make a great night of it. It's a super fast paced activity that you need to make an good impression and work out if you want to see someone again, and you might just get lucky!

10. Drinks at your local bar/pub
A pretty standard activity if you ask me. Get all your friends together and head down to your local. A great place to socialise, have fun and meet new people - this is a perfect way to spend New Years Eve.
